Ultra Low EMF & ELF Infrared Saunas

Sun Streams Low EMF & ELF Heater Technology.

For your Safety, the Sun Stream far infrared saunas use high quality Nano Carbon heaters that emit virtually NO EMF, less than 1mG when measured from a distance of less than 1 inch from the heaters. We believe this is one of the most important features to consider when buying an infrared sauna.

Sun Stream Infrared Saunas pioneered the development of EMF cancelling carbon panel heaters in 2010. There is no one definitive test for EMFs and there are many different meter technologies which measure EMFs in different ways. No Infrared sauna company can claim to be absolute zero EMFs. Our Nano-Carbon panel heaters are one of the lowest in the industry.

EF/ELF (Electric Fields)

In late 2018 development of our new EHS heater and electrical system was completed and incorporated into all the entire Sun Stream Sauna range. Our new EHS system involves numerous innovations which reduces ELF electric fields to an all new, near zero, industry low level.

The internal design of our EHS heaters eliminates the EF/ELF electric fields at the source of the heater. Very few sauna companies have done anything to reduce electric fields and most of those few mitigate electric fields through blocking or shielding techniques using conductive cloths, meshes or metal grills. Our EHS heaters represent a significant technological development and do not rely on any additional blocking materials to mitigate the electric fields.

What is EMF?

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are areas of energy that surround electronic devices. The World Health Organization (WHO) explains that the electric fields are created by differences in voltage and magnetic fields are created when the electric current flows. Magnetic fields are measured in milliGauss (mG). According to WHO, electromagnetic fields affect us because our human bodies have their own electric and biochemical responses (e.g., nervous system, digestion, brain function, heart function). So exposure to EMFs can interact with your body in adverse ways and cause symptoms of illness in infants, children and adults, particularly those who already experience low immunity. For safety, The EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) recommends you limit your magnetic field exposure to less than 2.5mG.

In this short video we discuss the dangers of EMF and demonstrate how low the EMF & ELF readings are on our new EHS Nano Carbon Heater panels.

EHS Nano Carbon Heating Technology

All Sun Stream Saunas use our revolutionary EHS Ultra Low EMF & ELF Nano Carbon Heaters, which have some similarities to other carbon fibre panel heaters on the market but BETTER!

The Nano Carbon heating panel uses a sheet that has been impregnated with microscopic carbon particles. Due to their very small mass, these ‘nano-carbon’ particles heat rapidly when conducting electricity and are very efficient at radiating far infrared heat. In physics this is described as having a high ‘Emissivity’ rating.

Many of the Carbon panel heaters on the market are made with different qualities of carbon materials and with different manufacturing processes. There are cheaply made, poor performing heaters and there are high quality, high performing heaters.

The specialized ‘Nano’ forms of carbon used in our heaters originate in Japan and very few companies possess the technology to process the carbon and produce high performing, high watt density carbon heater panels.

Our Ultra Low EMF & ELF Nano-Carbon heaters emit Far Infrared (FIR) with approximately 70% of the heaters output lying between 5 – 15 microns (5000nm – 15000nm) and approximately 90% of the output lying between 1 – 20 microns (1000nm – 20,000nm). Thus, our heaters also encompass the Mid Infrared range of 1.4 – 3.0 microns.

Sun Stream's Radiant Heat Test

Many sauna companies are making claims regarding micron outputs, depth of heat penetration, Infrared heat output, yet very few offer any evidence to support these claims.

Sun Stream Saunas has developed a test procedure to visually gauge the amount of radiant heat from Infrared sauna heaters.

The test utilizes a Cholesteric Liquid Crystal ‘Test Screen’ which changes colours in reaction to the radiant heat of the sauna heaters. The test clearly displays a greater intensity and wider spread Infrared output from our high temperature Nano-Carbon panels.

Our Heaters Have Tested Zero for Volatile Organic Compounds!

Sun Stream Infrared Saunas has submitted our carbon panel heaters to Pacific Environmental Consulting & Occupational Hygiene Services for VOC testing.

In recent years most Infrared sauna manufacturers have switched from using ceramic ‘element type’ heaters to carbon panel heaters. Carbon panel heaters are made from different forms of carbon (liquid carbon, powdered carbon or carbon fibres) which are sandwiched between fibreglass panels.

Are Carbon/Fibreglass Panels safe for use in Saunas?

Some have suggested that carbon/fibreglass panels may be unsafe due to off gassing of chemicals into the sauna. Indeed, in our experience some low quality panel heaters do emit odours and may not be safe for use in the saunas.

“Volatile Organic Compounds are emitted as gases from certain solids and liquids and include a variety of chemicals. Some VOC’s may have short or long term adverse effects… Usually symptoms of exposure to VOCs include headaches nose and throat irritation, fatigue and dizziness”

Sun Stream Panel Heaters: Proven Odourless and Non-Toxic

To ensure the safety of our Nano-Carbon Panel heaters we submitted them to VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) for emission testing by an independent lab, Pacific Environmental Consulting

Test Results: 0.0 ppm

Levels of Volatile Organic Compounds for all types of Sun Stream panels tested reported concentrations below the level of detection at 0.0 ppm.
